On the Beach abstract

SOLD "On the Beach", 24x30, acrylic on canvas. There is always a connection to make with color... everyone has a different way of looking "into" art and deciding what it means to them and how it works for them. "H" came to the ART ON UNION STREET and explored and soaked in the day. She was drawn to this one and a few tiny pieces. When I delivered the painting, she treated me to tea and gave me a tour of her art in her home... honestly, I could accomplish an entire art appreciation course just by listening to others as they explain why they love what they love and feel what they feel about color and art. "H" had so many pieces that meant so much to her... all ranges of work, all conditions... some perfect and fresh, some very old and very worn... some quirky and whimsical... but all very beautiful. I felt like she was allowing me to see into her heart as she described the origins and the thoughts around the art. My painting, "On the Beach", had significance to her as a reminder of times at the beach with her father and family... a very precious time in her life. Thank you, "H", for the opportunity to share in your vision.

"Birds on the Beach" has landed

SOLD "Birds on theBeach" has landed in a wonderful new home. I always love the story of how the journey takes shape. It usually starts with the words "I am drawn to your color". When someone says that to me, I have an overwhelming feeling of closeness ...its as if they are part of my family. You know how family can give you a "look" (in a good way) or say something as uneventful as "I know" and when they do, almost nothing else needs to be said. You speak the same language with each other... so you know. "D" had seen my work before and now she decided to make this painting a birthday present for herself. She told me of an earlier painting she had purchased from another artist decades ago, how she still loves it and how it brings as much joy to her now as it did then. When she told me that, I felt so connected to her... of course I understand. I am honored that she spent the time looking and deciding and experiencing her relationship with my color before she made the decision. I hope she enjoys this painting ... for decades. Thank you "D".

Rose Bryant Original Painting "Girls on the Beach"

I just love the things summer brings. Neighbor gatherings in the backyard, outdoor concerts, dining with friends at sidewalk cafes. This group of gulls made such a nice visual... friends (perhaps) just hanging out. The painting is an 18x36 acrylic on canvas. It is one of 20 works in my solo show at The Works Bakery Cafe starting this Friday. The Works is a hopping place right in the heart of Market Square in the charming seacoast town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. My show will be there August through October. Drop in for some color and a morsel on one of your summer outings.
Thank you for looking at my color... do pass it along to a friend!

Rose Bryant Original Painting "A Girl and Her Horse"

SOLD 16x20 acrylic on canvas
Sometimes when I am asked to do a commission, I almost feel like an actor who "gets into character". I enjoy hearing about the meaning behind the request, who the people are for whom the painting is intended.... or what the place or environment is about. I enjoy the emotional investment I make in the process... it makes my decisions clearer and hopefully my work more appreciated by the person requesting the painting. For this commission, a family came to me for a special "sweet sixteen" birthday gift for their daughter. After looking at several photographs and watching video images the daughter had put together to a favorite piece of music, I settled in on this particular moment. For me, there was no mistaking how special this love is to her. Enjoy. Rose
