Oh my goodness, such a happy painting, but I am sad she is no longer here! My work over the last year keeps flowing to more abstract imagery and feelings. At the same time I feel a need to do more figurative work. hmmm. Maybe something to consider when we have our figure drawing nights. Loose movement, color-rich, abstract, but still a human shape. After the holidays we plan to start up again Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913502740202365178.post-85850580197054159862019-08-08T12:45:00.000-04:002019-08-08T12:45:21.773-04:00Painting in the garden this September 2019

Hello, almost spring! This winter was an exploration for me of a more abstract body of work. My urge was to work organically ... making one thought, then another.
I remember the days of my youngest "students" - preschool and kindergarten aged children. They really were not the students, though, but rather they were the teachers.
I watched them unfold their thoughts one step at a timeUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913502740202365178.post-5586033875659150472018-11-01T08:01:00.001-04:002019-01-27T19:33:38.786-05:00Rose Bryant Original Paintings: OPEN STUDIOS this weekend!

I love exploring with color. Yes, sketching and drawing is excellent... but I am so attracted to trying a colorfilled brush even for short poses... 15 minutes or less. The result is very abstract. These images are from the last 3 evenings of figure drawing.... I will do more I am sure.

You can definitely make a day of it at our annual spring open studios this May. Leave your obligations at home for a few hours. Take in a breakfast somewhere in Exeter. Stop by the studio and see what the artists have been up to this winter. Lots of color, prints, originals, different mediums, wonderful ideas for your home and heart. I was recently asked how the process begins for me with an abstract image. Good question. Really... where do you start? Sometimes if you don't have "concrete thought" of what the result might look like, you could feel lost. So I break it down into parts that I love to think about first. Of course all thoughts could change, but generally, a Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913502740202365178.post-65957177912518301082017-11-10T11:47:00.001-05:002017-11-10T11:47:44.887-05:00On the easel
We just had our open studios this past weekend. What a wonderful weekend. Inspiring. Our artists friends are fabulously great people.... and their work is still up at the gallery if you need an art re-load.
